Mat Ford joined the Internet Society's Standards & Technology Department in September 2008. As Technology Programme Manager, he organizes and leads aspects of the Internet Society's work in advancing the development and deployment of open standards and promoting the Internet's collaborative development and operational management model.

Mat is the Internet Society liaison to the Internet Architecture Board and has contributed to the IETF for many years. Mat has led collaborative research projects and chaired the cluster of IPv6 research projects supported by the European Commission. Mat is the Editor of the IETF Journal and works closely with the Internet Research Task Force to promote greater collaboration between the networking research community and the IRTF.

Mat's background includes development of network security designs for a range of platforms, research and development in IP mobility and IPv6, as well as developing platforms to demonstrate research results. Prior to joining the Internet Society Mat was Principal Researcher at BT's Networks Research Centre.

Mat is based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
