About the Position:
The Director, Sponsorship and Membership Development requires an experienced professional who is well organized, has extensive networking, outreach and customer acquisition experience and is a self-starter who can work independently. S/he needs to demonstrate exemplary acumen working within a team as a key collaborator and a natural talent for outreach and is an astute relationship builder.  The Director will coordinate with fellow team members on fundraising issues and opportunities.

Position Location:  Oregon, Washington, California-USA- (West Coast)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Collaborate and strategize in partnership with Senior Director and global partnership development colleagues to ensure ISOC meets all annual fundraising and membership goals.
  • Recruit new Organizational Members within defined territory, which will have a strong focus on Silicon Valley, Western U.S. and North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Establish multi-year partnerships for ISOCs top funding priorities with corporations through Corporate Philanthropy.
  • Build regional relationships with corporations to create positive and rewarding ISOC experience, which will ensure annual renewals can be created.
  • Communicate and collaborate within ISOC to keep Partnership and Development opportunities top of mind through events, speaking engagements and partnerships.
  • Secure sponsorships for events that have been identified as ISOC priorities.
  • Collaborate with (PD Coordinator / Manager) to focus research in order to create prospect pipeline.
  • Work with regional colleagues to secure in-kind product/services that can offset meeting/operational costs.
  • Ensure all closed deals and prospects are reflected well in corporate history in Aptify (donor / member data base).
  • Identify and develop member benefits, products, services (expert roundtables, publications, etc.) that add value to ISOC’s membership offering.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of association or non-profit experience, in a revenue generation or related capacity. 
  • Experience working with international organizations or companies.  Internet/telecommunications sector familiarity is a plus.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing written and verbal membership outreach and sponsorship initiatives with a large and diverse international contributor base.
  • Demonstrated confidence and ability to make a value-based written and verbal case for funding and securing support.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; experience with preparing and delivering presentations and able to handle and prioritize many projects concurrently.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with electronic communication applications and tools is highly desirable.
  • Understanding and knowledge of revenue monitoring and management systems extremely important.
  • Strong ability to develop financial reports as are relevant to the achievement of the overall revenue goal.
  • Must have the ability to quickly gain trust among a broad variety of individuals and build enduring relationships across a vibrant global community.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively both oral and written English and Spanish is required.
  • An entrepreneurial self-starter who has the ability work as both an individual and team contributor within a matrix system.

  • Commitment to organizational mission, vision and values.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
